Today at Banjul City Council, we had the honor of welcoming a delegation from the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy as part of the national consultations for the development of the National Digital Addressing Database (Plus Codes) initiative.
The delegation was warmly received by the Deputy Mayor, Hon. Abdou Aziz Dabakh Gaye, and the Chief Executive Officer of Banjul City Council Mr. Modou Jonga. Following the welcome, a working session was held, bringing together the Ministry’s team, the Council’s senior management, and relevant staff.
The National Digital Addressing (Plus Codes) program is a flagship initiative of the Government, designed to strengthen service delivery, enhance governance, and support socio-economic development through the creation of a standardized and accessible addressing system. Given Banjul’s central role and proximity to communities, this consultation is a vital step in ensuring the system reflects local realities.
During the session, discussions focused on gathering and validating requirements that will guide the database’s architecture, functionalities, and eventual deployment. The Council reaffirmed its commitment to fully supporting this initiative, recognizing its transformative potential for the people of Banjul and The Gambia at large.
Banjul City Council remains steadfast in partnering with national stakeholders to advance innovations that improve governance and service delivery for our citizens.
