Following the approval of the recruitment process by the Establishment and Appointment Committee, the Banjul City Council today officially commenced interviews for the recruitment of City Police Security Officers.
This phase follows the successful completion of the Basic Fitness Tests (BFTs) and medical examinations, reaffirming Councilโs commitment to a disciplined, transparent, and merit-based recruitment process. No shortcuts, no compromises.
A total of forty-seven (47) candidates are scheduled for interviews. Nineteen (19) candidates were interviewed today, with the remaining twenty-eight (28) to be interviewed tomorrow.
The interview panel is chaired by the Deputy Mayor of Banjul and Chairman of the Establishment and Appointment Committee, Hon. Abdou Aziz Dabakh Gaye, and includes the Chief Executive Officer of Banjul City Council, Mr. Modou Jonga, alongside the Commissioner of Police (BCC) Mr. Jarju, Administration Manager Mr. Sandigie Njie, Audit Mr. Faal, and Clerk of Council Mr. Nyang.
It was particularly encouraging to witness the strong interest shown by young applicants eager to serve the city. The process reflected a generation stepping forward with discipline and purpose, with the youngest applicant interviewed being just 20 years old, a clear indication that young people are ready to take responsibility and contribute meaningfully to public service in Banjul.
This recruitment exercise is not merely about filling vacancies; it is about strengthening the cityโs frontline institutions and investing in people who will uphold order, professionalism, and community trust.
The interviews continue tomorrow as Council remains focused on ensuring Banjul is served by capable, committed, and accountable personnel.
