The Banjul City Council earlier today convened an Emergency General Council Sitting at the Council Chamber, New Complex, to deliberate on urgent and progressive matters of city interest.
The meeting was chaired by Her Worship the Lord Mayoress, Rohey Malick Lowe, and attended by the Deputy Mayor, Chief Executive Officer, Honourable Councillors, Senior Management, and members of the general public.
After a thorough and fruitful discussion, the Council gave its threshold approval for both the Urban Youth-Led Cleaning Initiative and the Community Street Lights Project, two landmark undertakings that reflect the Councilโ€™s steadfast commitment to improving the living conditions of Banjulians.
These approvals mark another decisive step toward transforming Banjul into a cleaner, brighter, and more sustainable city. The Urban Youth-Led Cleaning Initiative will empower young people to take the lead in reclaiming the cityโ€™s beauty, instilling civic pride and environmental consciousness. Meanwhile, the Community Street Lights Project will strengthen security, enhance night-time visibility, and bring renewed vibrancy to our neighbourhoods.
Through such forward-looking actions, the Council continues to demonstrate unity of purpose, progressive leadership, and a deep sense of duty to the people of Banjul.
