Earlier today in Banjul, the Deputy Mayor of the city, Hon. Abdou Aziz Dabakh Gaye, represented Her Worship, the Lord Mayoress Hon. Rohey Malick Lowe, at the Tree Planting Initiative organized by Clean Future Solutions, a proud beneficiary of the Bloomberg Project, implemented through REFELA and the Banjul City Council.
Held under the theme “Plant a Tree to Grow a Legacy,” the exercise brought together community organizations, youth groups, and civic partners in a collective effort to promote environmental sustainability and the beautification of our capital city. The initiative was organized in partnership with the Rotary Club of Fajara and graced by the presence of Rotary District Governor, Mr. Abou-Bakar Ouattara, whose attendance highlighted the regional significance and collaborative spirit of this environmental cause.
Speaking on behalf of the Lord Mayoress, the Deputy Mayor commended Ms. Binnet Roberts and her entire team at Clean Future Solutions for their dedication, innovation, and leadership. He reaffirmed the Council’s steadfast support to the group, noting that as young, determined, and mostly female Banjulians, they represent the ideals of civic responsibility and service that continue to shape the city’s development agenda.
The Deputy Mayor further emphasized that such community-led environmental actions are central to the Council’s long-term vision of fostering a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Banjul for generations to come.
The Banjul City Council extends appreciation to all partners and stakeholders, particularly the Rotary District Governor, the Rotary Club of Fajara, and every participating organization that contributed to the success of this impactful exercise.
Together, we continue to plant the seeds of a cleaner and more sustainable future for our beloved city.
