As part of the official visit programme of Mayor Dr. Alix Desulme, Mayor of the City of North Miami, United States of America, Banjul City Council, in partnership with the Awodi Ojeh Society, hosted a grand Cultural Evening in Banjul, held in celebration of the Society’s 100-year anniversary.
On behalf of the Lord Mayoress of Banjul, Rohey Malick Lowe, the Deputy Mayor of Banjul, Abdou Aziz Dabakh Gaye, together with a delegation of Councillors and senior Council officials, accompanied Mayor Desulme and his delegation to the historic cultural event, which was delivered in grand style and reflected the depth of Banjul’s cultural heritage.
The evening showcased traditional performances and ceremonial displays, underscoring the central role of culture in strengthening people-to-people diplomacy and reinforcing the enduring partnership between Banjul and North Miami.
In recognition of his outstanding leadership, friendship, and continued commitment to the Banjul–North Miami relationship, Mayor Dr. Alix Desulme was formally honoured by the Awodi Ojeh Society. In the same spirit of mutual respect and appreciation, an award was also presented to the Lord Mayoress of Banjul, which was received on her behalf by the Deputy Mayor.
Banjul City Council commends the Awodi Ojeh Society for a century of preserving and promoting cultural heritage and for their valued partnership in hosting this historic event, which further strengthened cultural diplomacy and international cooperation between Banjul and North Miami.
