Her Worship the Lord Mayoress Hon. Rohey Malick Lowe, Mayor of Banjul and President of REFELA AFRICA, is currently in Es-Semara, Morocco, together with Hon. Yankuba Darboe, Chairman of the West Coast Region, and fellow REFELA members, attending the 50th Anniversary of the Glorious Green March, organized by the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco.
This landmark engagement has seen the finalization of twinning partnerships between Banjul City Council and Es-Semara City Council, as well as between Brikama Area Council and the Municipality of Amgala, both of which are scheduled for official signing tomorrow, ๏ฟผa major milestone for The Gambiaโ€™s local governance cooperation.
The event, convened under the Independent Committee, brings together ministers, parliamentarians, mayors, and international experts to foster dialogue, cooperation, and the exchange of best practices across Africa and beyond.
Speaking at the gathering, Her Worship the Lord Mayoress reaffirmed Banjulโ€™s commitment to international collaboration and womenโ€™s empowerment, stating: โ€œFor REFELA, empowerment is about creating sustainable efforts that equip our women to march boldly into an uncertain and unpredictable future. Together, we can change the narrative and shape our world.โ€
