Today, the Deputy Mayor of Banjul, Hon. Abdou Aziz Dabakh Gaye, led an oversight visit to the Sandika dumpsite and market, accompanied by the Chairman of the Environmental, Sanitation, Health & Mbalit Committee Hon. Cllr. Tunko Jammeh, the Market Committee, Security personnel, and the Cleansing Services.
The exercise focused on the systematic clearing of waste and restoring proper sanitary conditions in and around the Sandika market. Immediate measures are being taken to ensure the proper management of waste disposal, strengthen security around the site, and maintain a cleaner, healthier environment for residents, traders, and visitors.
This action underscores the Council’s seriousness and unwavering commitment to safeguarding public health, protecting livelihoods, and preserving the dignity of our city. The Banjul City Council will continue to work closely with all stakeholders to make sure Banjul remains clean, safe, and resilient.
