The Banjul City Council Police have successfully completed a three-day capacity building training on Child Protection and the Prevention and Response to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), held from 29th September to 1st October 2025 at Ocean Bay Hotel.
The training, organized by the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), brought together municipal police officers from Banjul City Council, Kanifing Municipal Council, and Brikama Area Council. It focused on strengthening knowledge of relevant instruments, legislation, and effective approaches in addressing SGBV and safeguarding children.
Today, on their return from the programme, the officers were congratulated and commended by the Deputy Mayor, Hon. Abdou Aziz Dabakh Gaye, on behalf of the Lord Mayoress, Her Worship Rohey Malick Lowe. He also encouraged them to apply the knowledge gained in their daily duties. The Chief Executive Officer of Banjul City Council, Mr. Modou Jonga, likewise congratulated the officers on their successful participation and certification.
The Banjul City Council remains committed to continuous capacity building for its Police Force, recognizing that a well-trained City Police is essential to safeguarding rights, ensuring justice, and promoting community well-being.
