The Banjul City Council, through its Cleansing Services Department, has launched a comprehensive citywide garbage clearing exercise aimed at removing accumulated waste, including household refuse, across the capital.
Despite a temporary breakdown of one of our compactor trucks, Council swiftly hired additional trucks to bridge the gap, while our fleet of tricycles remains fully engaged. This robust effort is being carried out under the committed leadership of our hardworking councillors, spearheaded by Hon. Cllr. Tunko Jammeh, Hon. Cllr. Alagie Sarr (Mia), and strongly supported by the energetic youths of Banjul, who continue to stand at the forefront of community service.
This exercise is not just about cleaning, it is a joint effort between Council, the youths, and the people of Banjul to protect our health, our environment, and the dignity of our city.
We call on all residents to join us in this mission by abstaining from illegal dumping and making proper use of waste collection points. A clean city is a shared responsibility, and together, with the energy of our youths and the unity of our people, we can keep Banjul shining.
