Banjul City Council was honored to host the Dance for Nature Festival and the official closing ceremony of the Dance for Nature Project at the Arch Pavilion.
On behalf of Her Worship, the Lord Mayoress Hon. Rohey Malick Lowe, the welcome statement was delivered by the Deputy Mayor of Banjul, Hon. Abdou Aziz Dabakh Gaye, highlighting the Councilโs unwavering commitment to youth empowerment, environmental sustainability, and community-driven solutions. He was joined by the nominated Councillor, Hon. Fatou Ada Joof, BCC Womenโs Representative.
The Council extends its deepest appreciation to Bloomberg Philanthropies and REFELA Gambia, whose invaluable support made this initiative possible. Their dedication continues to inspire lasting impact.
The festival showcased the creativity of 45 young performers from Banjulโs dance and masquerade groups, who used dance, music, and storytelling to promote climate awareness and inspire community action. The performances were a testament to resilience, creativity, and vision reminding us that meaningful change is carried not only in policies but through the rhythm and energy of our communities.
The Council further commends the dedication of Mr. Latirr Carr, the overall Project Coordinator, the Dance for Nature Initiative Coordinator, and Coordinator of Flex Fuzion, as well as all stakeholders and partners whose collective leadership and support were central to the success of the project.
