A proud and defining moment for the capital city!

Under the visionary leadership of Her Worship Rohey Malick Lowe, Lord Mayoress of Banjul, a new chapter of international friendship and cooperation has been written. From the historic city of Es-Semara, Morocco, the Banjul City Council has officially signed a Twinning Partnership with the Es-Semara City Council, establishing a bridge of collaboration, culture, and shared progress.

This landmark agreement marks the dawn of a strategic alliance built on mutual respect and development — with focus areas that speak directly to the heart of our communities:

Cultural Exchange – Strengthening people-to-people ties through heritage, art, and shared traditions.

Education – Fostering academic partnerships and opportunities for youth empowerment.

Sports – Promoting youth development, teamwork, and healthy living through friendly competition.

Entrepreneurship – Creating new pathways for business growth, innovation, and job creation.

The ceremony also witnessed the twinning of Brikama Area Council with the Municipality of Amgala, further reinforcing The Gambia’s growing diplomatic and development footprint on the global stage.

This milestone reflects Banjul’s rising role as a city open to collaboration, learning, and leadership in international development.
