The Banjul City Council, represented by the Deputy Mayor of Banjul, Hon. Abdou Aziz Dabakh Gaye, on behalf of the Lord Mayoress of Banjul, Her Worship Rohey Malick Lowe, attended and officially performed the kick-off of the Maiden Banjul Beach Soccer Nawettan 2025, organized by the Banjul Sports Committee at the Banjul Beach.
This inaugural competition marks a significant milestone in Banjulβs sporting calendar celebrating the cityβs unity, youth talent, and growing enthusiasm for inclusive sporting activities. The grand final featured an electrifying showdown between One Love FC and QCity FC, two outstanding teams that demonstrated exceptional skill, teamwork, and the true spirit of Banjul under the sunset sky of our capital.
The finals were graced by several distinguished personalities, including the President of The Gambia Football Federation (GFF), Mr. Lamin Kaba Bajo, the Fourth Vice of GFF, Ms. Sainabou Cham, and the Honourable Members of Parliament for Banjul North, South, and Central, Hon. Momodou Lamin Bah, Hon. Fatoumata Njai, and Hon. Abdoulie Njai, respectively. Their presence highlighted the national commitment to supporting grassroots sports and promoting youth empowerment.
On behalf of the Lord Mayoress and the Banjul City Council, the Deputy Mayor reaffirmed Councilβs unwavering support for youth and sports development by committing D30,000 to ensure the successful organization and smooth execution of this historic maiden competition, underscoring the Councilβs dedication to empowering young athletes and fostering a vibrant sporting culture in Banjul.
