Work continued this weekend as teams maintained momentum across the city. In anticipation of the upcoming inauguration of the Crab Island Sustainable Development Centre, focused attention was also given to the facility and its immediate surroundings to ensure it reflects the significance of this landmark achievement.
The Centre stands as a groundbreaking, solar-powered development, purposefully designed to serve as a hub for innovation, skills development, and community empowerment. It houses a radio station, a well-equipped multipurpose hall, a recording studio, an IT laboratory, a fully equipped kitchen, laundry facilities, dedicated workspaces, a multipurpose court, and landscaped gardens being used for urban farming, among other notable features.
Recognizing the importance of this milestone for the city, teams carried out thorough cleaning both within the premises and around its surrounding areas, ensuring the environment is clean, welcoming, and ready for public use ahead of the official inauguration.
This effort forms part of a broader commitment to not only maintain cleanliness across Banjul, but also to properly prepare and preserve key public facilities that represent progress, sustainability, and opportunity for the people.
